MELBOURNE FUTSAL LEAGUE NEWS: STRIKERS U'11 TEAM WIN OPENING GAME


 

The Strikers U'11 team have had an impressive start to their Melbourne Futsal League Campaign beating the tough Monash City 13:6 in a highly entertaining match at the Bulleen Veneto Sporting Club. Both teams started nervously with errors contributing to the many goals scored. With the Strikers having more attempts on goal and having the better of the play the Strikers went into half time 5:5.

The coaching staff adressed the team at half time stressing the importance of finishing off their chances and working better as a unit in transition from defense into attack. The Strikers instantly reacted blasting in 8 goals in the second half. In a truly team effort 7 individual goal scorers got on the scoresheet. Matthew Conversano scoring an impressive 5 goals and the goal sneeks Jamie Gazelle and Matthew Zalewski netting a couple each. Goals a piece from Brayden Calleja, Nathan Liberto, Nicholas Bartolo and Johnathan Vakirtzis rounded up the scoring. Matthew Bartolo played a vital role setting up the win with a strong display in the second half and Jayden Mercieca in goals with some important saves. With Samuel Logozzo to come back into the team the Strikers are looking at improving again in the top of the table clash with the AFG in round 2.
